Boating and Sailing

You will hear it called the boating capital of Victoria, perhaps Australia. If you love boating then you are going to love East Gippsland. With 6 major rivers feeding the lakes and the famous 90 Mile Beach, you are spoilt for choice. Power, sail, cruise or paddle-it in this water wonderland.

With over 400 square km of sparkling lakes, quiet rivers and canals to explore you might need a few days on your boat to see it all. You can stay on board or come home to land each night. It is all safe boating here. No rocks or reefs, no tides and average wind strength just 10-15 knots. The rivers offer alternate boating trips. With the wind in your sails, some petrol in your motor or paddle power you can experience safe & spectacular boating. In other words no fuss boating, particularly easy with the generally light winds experienced on average.

World class boating is right here on the Gippsland Lakes. You can bring your own boat or hire a cruiser, yacht or day boat. Sailing is like second nature here, but you must have some sailing experience to hire a yacht. The conditions are often perfect, which means you will have the wind in your sails as well as your hair.

Venture out on a day boat and be followed by inquisitive dolphins, follow them and you just might find that special spot for a picnic. Make sure that you also head for the Nicholson, Tambo and Mitchell Rivers. Small power boats, cruiser or even canoes and kayaks find these quiet waterways a pleasure.
